The Press Operator produces parts from using a press. Using a variety of measurement tools, looks at the finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production. May perform coil changes, operate press controls.

Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred. At least 1 year of relevant manufacturing/machine operations experience.
Skills And Competencies
Basic math and communication skills. The ability to read and understand blueprints and other manufacturing instructions. Problem Solving Skills. Keen attention to detail is required.

This position requires standing, walking, lifting, bending at the waist, crouching, and climbing steps. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly from floor level to waist level and back to move materials and finished product around the press. Job also requires use of safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, protective arm coverings and occasionally a hard hat.

- Review and understand operating procedures from work instructions/job traveler, part prints, etc.
- Operate a punch press and other machine types in the shop.
- Understand and use basic press controls.
- Operate both continuous and single stroke operations.
- Monitor machines and understand the basic mechanics of a press to identify malfunctions. Notify the set-up operator or lead of any concerns.
- Makes sure machines are stocked with needed materials and performs periodic checks on parts.
- Meets quality expectations by regularly inspecting parts to ensure customer specifications are met. Perform basic measurements using quality measurement equipment and recording results on the quality documents.
- Adhere to all safety standards and regulations, which include keeping a clean work area and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
- Document and report daily production results.
