D. Martin Enterprises (DME) is a family-owned business celebrating its fiftieth year in existence. DME along with its two subsidiary companies First Class Mill Services and DME Manufacturing, PA manufactures, sells, and services products that support the US electric arc furnace steel industry.
We are seeking a controller who can help oversee the financial health of all three companies. While primary responsibility will be administration of all accounting operations of our subsidiary First Class Mill Services, there will be crossover to the other companies. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all general ledger activity.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close process.
- Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
- Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
- Direct the finance team to ensure they are focused and aligned with business objectives.
- Manage and respond to all financial inquiries of owners.
- Monitor the financial performance of the company and report findings and recommendations to the ownership team.
- Implement operational best practices.
Successful Controller will have the following qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant field and CPA are required.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in a financial management role. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel is required
- Mastery of all accounting functions is mandatory.
- Proven experience in auditing, ensuring the accuracy and legality of the company's financial records.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Familiarity with budget processes, including planning, development, and execution, is a key requirement.
- Expertise in month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of maintaining strong relationships with ownership and external partners, like banks.
