A Job Coach is a Direct Support Professional (DSP) that helps people learn their job, communicate with coworkers or explore types of jobs in the community.
Direct Support Professionals are people that help other people (our clients) to live and work in the community.
- On the job training and CPR/First Aid certification
- Annual performance evaluations and pay increases.
- Monthly phone stipend
- Mileage to/from all work/client locations.
- Paid time for all assigned duties.
- Starting wage: $15 plus per hour DOE
Job Coach (JC) / Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Job Summary
The Job Coach is a direct support professional (DSP) and is responsible for a variety of duties related to the support and overall care of individuals with disabilities who are working or exploring work in the community.
A Job Coach helps people learn their job, communicate with coworkers or explore community jobs. They can really make a difference in the life of someone by supporting them to learn the skills for the job and interact with their supervisors and coworkers.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) can make a difference in the life of someone by supporting daily life skills, encourage community interactions, build a social network, go on outings, and have a great time while getting paid to do so.
This could include direct support of program specific requirements and implementation of
- Vocational support plan with identified limitations,
- Individual Support Plans (ISP), Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP),
- Individual goals
Required
- Be nice.
- Have a good attitude.
- Minimum 18 years of age and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Possess and maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license, and insured vehicle that meets minimum State of Oregon insurance requirements.
- Able to pass a Background Check that meets State of Oregon requirements.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to use cloud-based software programs.
Preference
- Prefer one year experience delivering direct support services to people with disabilities or direct care services either in classroom, place of employment, day care, medical, or residential settings.
- Current CPR/1st Aid Certification or willing to obtain with 30 days.
- Core Competency & Training Certifications for Employment Professionals or obtain within 60 days of hire.
Work location
- Work is performed at various locations in the community based on customer needs. Schedules vary based on need.
Work hours vary and are generally 20 to 35 hours a week.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
