POSITION: Middle School Reading Interventionist
LOCATION: DR Hill Middle School
Job Description:
The interventionist will work extensively with students to increase student achievement in the area of reading based on individual data. He or she will work in collaboration with the general education teacher to identify specific areas for improvement, set goals and targets for individual student growth, create and implement an action plan, and monitor progress.
Education and Experience:
- A valid SC teaching certificate, elementary certification preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ classroom teaching experience in the areas of reading
- A Bachelor’s degree is required (Master’s degree in Reading or related field preferred and/or literacy endorsement)
- Experience with Guided Reading instructional model preferred

Essential Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students in the area of reading
- Tailor and plan lessons based on individual student data
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction according to needs
- Work closely with general education teachers to implement consistent strategies to support students in the classroom
- Maintain consistent communication with the general education teacher to share student data, progress, and necessary instructional adjustments
Salary: Teacher Salary Scale (190 days)
