General Description Of Position/Duties
- The position of Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is one in which the individual is responsible for enforcing and implementing the comprehensive safety, health and environmental program and Site Specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) for D Sqaure on the specific assigned project.
- The SSHO assists in the development of EHS policies and procedures for the project with the goal of zero accidents/incidents. He/She conducts incident investigations/ near miss analysis with the goal of identifying root causes and providing oversight and insight into the development of controls that will prevent a reoccurrence.
- The SSHO administers the D Square safety training program and site specific orientation to in house employees and multiple subcontractor partners and jobsite visitors with a focus of hazard identification and abatement.
- Provide safety support to the project by partnering and mentoring subcontractors through interfacing and providing solutions to complex or high risk features of work.
- Develop, own and lead site safety and accident plan, incorporating all elements into subcontractor site / task specific plans. Track and report on progress, assisting with accountability to the plan.
- Train project staff in & subcontractors required safety program and compliance training.
- Participate in safety committee, providing technical knowledge and cultural support.
- Responsible for managing D Square's Injury management and return to work program for the project site including medical visits, recordkeeping of injuries.
- Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and/or unsafe conditions.
- Assist with subcontractor safety program development.
- Responsible for implementation of safety policies on the project, including field inspections/audits, and feedback to project managers and the site superintendent.

- Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) | Preferred, OSHA 30 Hr.
- CPR/FA. EM 385 40 Hr.
- 4 year college degree Preferred.

- Lead / Conduct Weekly Safety Meetings, Proacive Intentional Leadership.

- Ensure all AHA's required to start project are prepared and submitted in time to start work on schedule.
- Review Hazmat Report for Completeness & Inspect site for additional hazards not previously identified.
- Ensure a positive and safe work environment by conducting general on-site safety and environmental inspections, submitting required reports and evaluations of activities, including subcontractor compliance.
- Ensure that all required employees meet OSHA training requirements by providing orientation and training as needed.
- Understand & comply with safety and environmental requirements of company, regulatory authority and supply chain in conjunction with the scope of work.
- Ensure safe work environment by assessing project safety conditions, investigating accidents, injuries & “near miss” incidents with development of corrective actions.
- Assist with supervisory safety inspections where permitted.
- Identify project/task hazards with authority to correct hazards or terminate activities if hazards cannot be corrected in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with Project Team, Project Manager, Customer/Owner, and others to resolve safety issues.
- Research current safety and environmental issues in order to provide up-to-date safety instruction to field staff and subcontractors.
- Maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety and health related coursework every four (4) years at a minimum.
- Assist with company sponsored training sessions.
- Provide mentoring to subcontractors and PSI project staff.
- Maintain positive working relationship with Customer.
- Ensure all work is completed per Contract Requirement & Standard Industry Practices.
- Provide clear and concise written communications with customer and subcontractors.
- Display Positive attitude at all times.
