Description
As an Sustaining Engineer at D-Tech, the #1 independent Rotary Steerable provider in the world in the oil and gas drilling and geothermal markets, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the sustained performance and lifespan of our products, provide advanced technical support and materials to the sales team and ensure up to date technical information is being provided to our engineering team in the UK. This role requires a deep understanding of downhole engineering, downhole drilling operations, and drilling mechanics, as well as the ability to meticulously track and integrate new technologies. Additionally, you will be responsible for helping generate and present detailed post-run reports to support sales efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:
• Product Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and assess the performance of downhole tools and technologies in the field to ensure optimal reliability and effectiveness.
• Troubleshooting: Provide advanced technical support to resolve complex issues related to the performance and operation of downhole equipment
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate closely with the Quality and Engineering teams to identify and implement enhancements to products and processes, driving continuous improvement
• Field Support: Engage with field teams to optimize tool performance, address issues, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of product performance, including measurements and pictures, issues, and resolutions, contributing to ongoing product improvement initiatives
• Market Research: Stay at the forefront of emerging trends and technologies in downhole engineering, including advancements in materials, tools, procedures, and processes
• Innovation Integration: Evaluate and recommend new technologies and engineering initiatives for potential integration into our product line, working with the New Tech Team and Sustaining Teams to assess feasibility and impact
• Competitive Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of competitor technologies and offerings, identifying opportunities for differentiation and improvement in our products
• Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on technological advancements and their potential impact on the business, sharing insights with internal stakeholders
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To apply you must meet the following criteria:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, petroleum or electrical engineering or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in downhole technologies or a related discipline, with a proven track record in the oil and gas sector
• Experience in drilling technology including: MWD/LWD, mud motors, drilling mud, drill bits and/or RSS systems
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and sales staff
• Ability to work overtime (weekends and some holidays included) as required, be flexible in working requirements as the needs of the business dictate
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a very dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Ability to travel domestic and abroad when required
• Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship
