What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Services IT Systems Administrator II position at D'Youville University?
Summary :
The IT Systems Administrator II will demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering and administering on mission critical infrastructure, and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. Qualified systems administrators will have a background in IT, Server Administration, Storage and Backup Administration, Project Management, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (general skillset).
Responsibilities :
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Follow Best Practice Guidelines and Departmental Policies and Procedures, where appropriate, to maintain and administer Server (virtual and physical) and backup / DR infrastructure.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with IT Pulse Center team members to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Take the lead in the project management and implementation of operational support systems.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd tier level support to the Helpdesk as needed.
- Document all pertinent information using the appropriate call-tracking / ticketing system.
- Reinforce customer retention through exemplary problem solving and service
