Pay Range: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday 7 am to 3 pm can be adjusted if needed.
JOB SUMMARY
The Automation Technician performs a variety of basic technical duties. Work involves vision inspection machines and specialty inspection equipment. Locates and diagnoses failures and troubleshoots equipment. Performs repair, replacement, adjustment, and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and office facilities.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
- Lockout/tag-out, PPE, sling and rigging
- MIG Welding
- Measuring Equipment – tapes, scales, micrometers, calipers, etc.
- Electrical Maintenance – tracing circuits, wiring diagrams, pulling wire, transducers, Plc Diagnostics, Plc Programing, 12-24 Ac/Dc, single phase 120v 220v 240v, 208v to 480v three phase
- Mechanics – equipment installation, calibration, pumps, bushings, bearings, shafts, seals, alignment, various pipe fittings
- Perform preventative maintenance on all machinery (Utilize eMaintenance for record keeping)
- Inspect equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
- Observe work and monitor gauges, dials and other indicators to ensure that machine operate at maximum output. If not running at documented parts per minute, identify and communicate the root cause
- Lubricate machinery, change parts or perform other routine maintenance
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs
- Install, replace or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes or hoists
- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work
- Record production, repair and machine maintenance information (Excel, eMaintenance)
- Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance
- Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations
- Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts or equipment (with machine operators and/or engineering)
- Work closely with Inspection Supervisor to understand when production orders are due
- Continually monitor reject rate percentage and empty nest and react accordingly for over and under calling specific features
- Determine if the vision machine has issues or if the parts coming from molding are defective
- Train new vision machine operators and work with Inspection Supervisor to determine performance
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to understand and communicate with and through drawings
- Speak to others to convey information effectively (via verbal or email communication)
- Ability to troubleshoot and use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions to problems
- Use problem-solving and root-cause analysis
- Maintain facility and make repairs as needed
- Experience with various hand tools including but not limited to saws, drills and reamers
- Ability to drive a forklift and maintain a valid certification
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience with maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- A valid driver license with a clean driving record
- Ability to be on-call and work overtime as needed
- Electrical PLC/control panel experience preferred
- Excellent “can-do” attitude with ability to work well with a team or independently with various degrees of supervision
