K-12 Special Education Teacher
REPORTS TO:
Primary Principal and/or High School Principal

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Committed to delivering instruction in a non-traditional manner
- Provide instruction in the areas of Special Education
- Completion of IEP’s, behavior plans, and all applicable Special Education documentation as required, providing the least restrictive environment
- Participate in Teacher Support Team
- Provide instruction in the assigned area
- Be reasonable, respectful and responsible at all times
- Be extremely kind and polite at all times; it is never okay to be mean to students
- Awareness that a student’s perception is their reality
- Flexible in carrying out assignments
- Committed to supporting instruction in a non-traditional manner
- Ability to work with many different levels in one classroom
- Build relationships with students
- Follow safety and security procedures, i.e. keeping classroom doors locked
- Supervise passing time at doorway and welcome students by name to class
- Record assignments/grades weekly in PowerSchool and Google Classroom
- Document discipline, communication and special education accommodations
- Hold students accountable for non-negotiable school expectations
- Communicate with parents about classroom issues
- Review Staff Handbook and Student/Parent Handbook regularly
- Develop and follow curriculum, lesson plans and mapping guidelines
- Focus on student engagement
- Understand and follow PBIS guidelines
- Promote and model positive mental health activities and social emotional supports
- Teach and provide study skills
- Actively participate in staff meetings and professional development
- Self-reflect on current lessons and activities to promote student engagement
- Identify and communicate individual professional development needs
- Identify and communicate annual improvement goals on Pivot
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Except as otherwise provided by law, the Academy shall use certificated teachers according to state board rule.
- Must hold a BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university
- Have compassion for students
- Must value the child
- Must be a keen observer of children
- Must be able to use individual teaching methods according to the child’s learning style
- Have the ability to administer and evaluate tests and measurements of achievement
- Satisfactory completion of criminal background check
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $175.00 per day
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
