The business development manager will sell our services to existing and new clients in both our existing markets and new markets. The role includes but is not limited to:
- Conducting discussions with the client’s C-level executives, program managers, and project managers to develop scope, phasing, and pricing.
- Successfully negotiating the project bidding process, resulting in rewarding product development projects at Daedalus.
- Contributing to strategic planning to enhance Daedalus’ competitive position.
Note that the business development manager may work for a time without dedicated support staff.
- Accurately explain and promote Daedalus consulting services to companies and key influencers.
- Find new customers and grow relationships with existing customers.
- Identify decision-makers through research and understanding of organizational dynamics.
- Qualify leads to distinguish between good and bad business opportunities.
- Develop and maintain quality presentations targeting specific services and sets of services to specific markets.
- Maintain an aggressive call/email schedule to find leads, develop and maintain relationships, and close new business.
- Conduct scoping discussions to recommend project scope, price, and phasing.
- Write clear and credible proposals, integrating the input of specialists within Daedalus.
- Maintain a transparent and documented process that is visible to Daedalus leadership.
- Participate in account strategy sessions with Daedalus leadership.
- At least 5 years of experience selling professional consulting services and in-depth knowledge of selling strategies.
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals.
- Strong business analysis, solution crafting, writing, interaction management, and presentation skills.
- Skilled at developing proposals, contracts, plans, and statements of work for professional services.
- Ability to develop executive-level relationships. Strong communication and negotiation skills required.
- Willingness to attend evening and early morning business mixer events to maintain firm visibility and find project leads.
- Willingness to maintain a moderate travel schedule (mostly day trips).
- Except when traveling for business or taking time off for vacation, holidays, or personal needs (such as illness), the ability to regularly work at Daedalus facilities 8 hours each day, Monday through Thursday, during normal business hours. On Fridays, the individual may work from home or in the office.
