Job description
American Pavement Solutions is seeking a experienced Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety protocols on a concrete repair project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This temporary position will be critical in ensuring a safe work environment for all team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety plans and procedures specific to concrete repair work.
- Monitor and report on the safety performance of all team members and subcontractors.
- Conduct safety training sessions for workers, focusing on safe handling of materials and equipment related to concrete repair.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, and inspections; report findings to project management and regulatory agencies as required.
- Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and utilized by all personnel on site.
- Stay current with OSHA regulations, industry best practices, and any project-specific safety requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters on the job site.
- Submit daily safety reports to the ACoE
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or equivalent certification is required.
- Proven experience as a Site Safety Health Officer or in a similar role, preferably in construction
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards specific to construction and concrete work.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence team members on safety practices.
- First Aid/CPR certification is required
