Dearborn based immigration law practice is seeking an immigration legal assistant. As a boutique immigration law firm with over 40 years of experience in immigration law, we handle, employment-based and family-based immigration cases as well as removal defense, asylum, and naturalization cases.
Job responsibilities include:
· Preparing immigration packages for immigration related filings with USCIS, USDOS, USICE, USCBP, USDOL and the Immigration Court.
· Organizing computer and paper files, answering phones, scheduling, tracking deadlines, typing with accuracy, copying, filing, faxing, scanning, billing, e-filing.
· Communicating with a variety of courts and government agencies.
· Communicating with clients by in person, by phone and by email.
· Imputing client data and updating our case management system to properly track client applications.
· Organizing the office, ordering, and tracking office supplies.
What we are looking for:
We are seeking candidates with 1-3 years of experience working in the immigration field including experience preparing immigration applications. Employment-based or Removal immigration experience is a plus. You should bring with you the ability to:
· You should be able to precisely prepare forms and assembly indexed packages for filing with USCIS, USDOS and the Immigration Court. (We will provide training)
· You should have a positive, pleasant attitude.
· You should have excellent communication and organization skills.
· You should have excellent computer skills including experience in organizing computer files and using Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft office, Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat/PDF.
· You should have excellent writing skills (including proofreading, spelling, typing, and writing).
· You should have the ability to prioritize and manage a busy caseload in an efficient manner and consistent with numerous inflexible legal deadlines.
· You should have the ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with team members.
· You should have a high level of attention to detail. You should possess a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy.
· You should take pride in delivering highly responsive and proactive client service. You should have a passion for the immigration field.
· Arabic or Spanish language skills preferred.
Pay based on experience.
