What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender/Server position at Dahl Restaurant Group?
SUMMARY
Our Bartenders are responsible for the management of all aspects of the assigned bar, in accordance with Dahl Restaurant Group (DRG) criteria. The Bartender directs, implements and maintains a service and management philosophy that serves as a guide to respective team members. Assists with the attainment of goals specific to the DRG organizational goals in general.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares drink orders for guests.
- Sets up and maintains cleanliness and condition of bar, bar units and other tools, stocking and transporting supplies to bar areas.
- Completes opening and closing duties. Ensures liquors, beer, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas are secured upon end of shift.
- Processes all payment methods. Counts bank at end of shift, completes designated reports, resolves discrepancies, drops off receipts and secures bank.
- Follows all County Health Department and Arizona Liquor Board rules, regulations, laws and procedures. Follows alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and dealing with intoxicated guests.
- Maintain complete knowledge of:
- All beverages, liquors, and wines served at the bar, including the ingredients, preparation, and presentation of standard and exotic mixed drinks.
- All menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation and prices.
- Bar layout, table/seating numbers, proper bar/table set-ups, room capacity, hours of operation, price range and dress code.
- Correct use and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintain complete knowledge of, and strictly abide by, state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated guests, and drunk driving.
- Establish and maintain par levels for all supplies and equipment, properly anticipating business needs. Ensure that all orders for inventory and supplies are requisitioned, received, and stocked appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in all service and storage areas.
- Inspect appearance and attire of team members daily.
- Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials, equipment and service carts are in complete readiness for service.
- Constantly monitor team member performance in all phases of services and job functions, ensuring that all DRG service criteria are carried out.
- Inspect table set-ups; check for cleanliness, neatness and agreement to DRG service criteria. Rectify any discrepancies with respective team members.
- Maintain a competent and motivated team via selection criteria, creating a learning environment, which maximizes productivity, skill development and team member retention.
- Maintain complete knowledge of TOAST P.O.S. system.
- Daily use of Learning Journal to promote on going evaluation of critical processes and constant growth and learning.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School degree, College degree preferred
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective and pleasant speaking and listening abilities when communicating with guests, coaches and team members.
- Ability to multi-task between guest requests, operational issues, and team member needs.
- Ability to act independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong beverage product knowledge.
- Familiar with food and beverage cost controls.
- Able to establish and master DRG goals.
- Able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day.
- Able to lift, push, pull and balance up to 60 lbs.
