What are the responsibilities and job description for the REMOTE SUPPORT TECHNICIANS position at Daikin Comfort North America?
Please Note: This position is fully in person, not a remote position -- Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
May include:
- Remote Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with HVAC systems by communicating with on-site technicians or end-users through phone, email, or remote software tools.
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to field technicians on installations, repairs, and system optimizations. Offer assistance in understanding technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Customer Support: Assist customers with operational questions, settings adjustments, and system optimization to ensure optimal performance.
- Software Diagnostics: Use remote monitoring software to identify system faults, perform remote resets, adjust settings, and provide feedback on HVAC system health.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, issues resolved, and solutions provided. Document recurring problems and suggest preventive measures.
- Training: Occasionally conduct training for field technicians and customers on system usage, best practices, and troubleshooting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams, product managers, and field technicians to relay feedback from the field and assist in product development or improvements.
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Nature & Scope:
- Strategic Planning: Collaborating with engineering and management teams to develop long-term strategies for control system enhancements and upgrades.
- Technical Leadership: Providing expert guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, stakeholders and other team members.
- Innovation: Driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to improve system efficiency and reliability.
- Project Management: Overseeing the full lifecycle of control system projects, from initial concept through to commissioning and support.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, such as IT, facilities management, and security, to ensure integrated and cohesive system operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC) components and major building systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and calibrating control components.
- Operational knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to configure IT Networking components including routers, ports, switches, firewalls, and addresses
- Programming in at least one language or function block
- Ability to troubleshoot High and Low voltage electrical systems.
- Operational knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of control strategies and devices.
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in building automation (BAS/MBS) or HVAC control systems
- experience with BAS systems such as Alerton Compass, Desigo, Total Control and Niagra 4
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
