What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Clerk (Montana Site) position at Daily's Premium Meats?
SUMMARY: Assist the Supervisor and Lead with day-to-day shipping and receiving duties. Assist in performing all shipping job functions correctly and safely while ensuring expectations are met and follow company policy and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following: (other duties may be assigned)
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pick lists and packing slips. Ability to effectively provide information related to job duties and respond to questions from co-workers, Supervisor and Purchasing & Distribution Manager.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to assist in solving inventory variances. Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to learn and effectively use a computer, if required, and learn computer programs that are or will be made available. Ability to operate basic office equipment. Ability to safely operate a forklift. Must have valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have adequate eyesight and hearing to be able to recognize hazards to equipment and personnel.Must be able to turn in all directions in order to observe objects and employees nearby. Full range of motion in extremities to allow proper movement and handling of product. Must be able to walk or stand for at least 90% of assigned shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled – including weekends.

- Receiving incoming shipments and compare items received with vendors’ packing lists and note discrepancies.
- Move received inventory to appropriate warehouse locations.
- Complete paperwork on items shipped, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Operate all equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks (not main supply trucks) in a safe manner, with necessary certification and in compliance with company policies.
- Conduct cycle counts of inventory items as directed.
- Assist in housekeeping required to maintain warehouse area in neat, orderly and clean condition.
- Bring operational needs or requirements to the attention of shipping Supervisor or Manager for review and/or implementation.
