What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Dairy Farmers of America?
General Purpose:
Develop the schedule for production at the highest-level which products will be stocked or planned either prior to shipment or prior to assembly for made to order operations.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Translate orders into a sequential work schedule
- Analyze production specifications and capacity date and perform mathematical calculations to determine production processes and tools
- Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established production sequences and lead times
- Plan sequence of operations
- Communicate with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects
- Expedite operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions

Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in business or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
- 2 to 5 years of production planning or related experience
- Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
- Knowledge and understanding of planning and production methodologies
- Strong understanding of plant processes in relation to production processes for each line
- Skill in analytical thinking
- Able to problem solve, multi-task and prioritize own work activities
- Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
- Able to to conduct research into issues or situations
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
