Position Profile:
DVI is seeking to hire an “Entry Level” Commodity Trader/Consultant. This position will work directly under a Senior Trader staff while being developed to transition into a consultant with management and ownership opportunities. As a junior trader candidates will be developed to become knowledge leaders in the agriculture industries we serve. Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Interact with clients while upholding a professional image.
- Assist clients in establishing cost of production risk profiles using DVI proprietary software.
- Prepare a formal market plan to discuss with client and use it to implement decisions.
- Trade in the feed, grain, and milk markets using cash contracts and hedge related activity.
- Network with client’s banker, nutritionist, financial managers, and other consultants as part of an overall team to support individual client success.
- Function independently and as a team player to develop client recommendations, analyze markets, and interact with support staff.
Required Experience/Educational Needs:
- Training, coursework, or related experience in any of the following: Ag economics, farm management, and cash trading in the feed, grain, or milk markets.
- DVI is willing to train various aspects of the position but having a solid background in production agriculture with an emphasis on grain and/or dairy businesses is highly valued.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Able to communicate professionally with producers and industry relationships.
- Detail focused, with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Experience with trading agriculture commodity futures, options, and cash contracts.
- Solid understanding of business financial statements and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of farm programs and crop insurance products.
- Service oriented with a passion to help agricultural businesses succeed.
- Entrepreneurial sales and business development skills.
Compensation:
Salary is dependent on the candidate’s knowledge, experience, and the amount of training needed to develop for the position. Once the “Junior” trader begins to mature in their ability to manage customer accounts, DVI will transition compensation to a highly competitive “Senior Trader” commission-based incentive package. Employees that meet revenue and qualification criteria will be offered ownership opportunities to benefit from corporate profits.
