Works under the supervision of a Team Manager and operates Utilities processes and equipment to produce and distribute to the plant Steam, Dowtherm, Nitrogen, Compressed Air, Filtered Water, Chilled Water, River Water, Drinking Water, Fire Water, and Emergency Power. Provides Waste Water Treatment, fluidized bed combustion, spill containment, and HVAC services and monitors the distribution of electric power and natural gas.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS: The following essential elements are general duties that represent the broad spectrum of job assignments. The level of responsibility and job duties within the job assignment are commensurate with established company-wide requirements.
Uses computer terminals, process control consoles and personal computers to enter and retrieve data, and work on team projects.
Monitors and controls utility processes from a control room using control consoles, control panel instrumentation, and two-way radios.
Responds to the stress of alarms, out-of-control conditions and multiple radio and telephone inputs in the control room in a calm, focused and decisive manner.
Operates different types of equipment such as Dowtherm heaters, refrigeration units, fluidized bed combustors, air compressors, steam turbines, river water pumps, emergency power system, fire water pumps, water treatment plant, HVAC systems, and sanitary and industrial waste water treatment plants.
Assists in unloading Number 2 fuel oil, ammonia, caustic, and sulfuric acid.
Loads fluidized bed combustor ash into trucks using bulk handling equipment
Handles raw materials and supplies in 55-gallon drums and other smaller containers. Climbs ladders and walks on open platforms and catwalks at elevated locations.
Uses hand tools to perform operator maintenance and adjustment on various pieces of equipment.
Prepares equipment for maintenance.
Collects samples and runs tests on materials from different utility processes using standardized test methods and analytical procedures.
Exercises safety and good housekeeping practices and reports any unsafe conditions, practices or spills to Team Manager.
Must serve on the plant emergency response team - fire brigade.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School Graduate or Equivalent
PREREQUISITE SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/TRAINING FOR JOB: Employees assigned to this classification must: Must not be afraid of heights and working and elevated locations on pipe bridges.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: South Carolina Driver’s License; A Class "C" or higher Biological Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification will eventually be required.
Must be willing to work a 12 hour rotating shift.
