Dakota Memorial School (DMS) is a non-public school located on the campuses of Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. DMS provides a specialized education for children in residential care at the Ranch, along with Day Students who come to us from the surrounding communities. Are you passionate about teaching and making a difference in the lives of at-risk youth? Our specialized school is seeking a dynamic and compassionate English Teacher to join our team. This full-time position is an opportunity to impact students' lives in a small, supportive environment where individualized attention and relationship-building are key.
About Us
Our school serves at-risk youth in grades 6-12, including those in a residential treatment center. With a focus on safety, respect, and responsibility, we provide a holistic approach to education and behavior support for students who thrive in non-traditional settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach middle and high school English courses aligned with state standards.
- Develop engaging, differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse student needs.
- Foster a supportive, structured classroom environment that encourages academic and personal growth.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A current teaching license in English for grades 6-12 OR eligibility for provisional licensure in these areas.
- Experience working with at-risk youth is highly preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to trauma-informed practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
