What You'll Do
The Galaxie Library is currently seeking an energetic, innovative full-time (40 hours per week) Youth Services Librarian with strong customer service skills to develop a broad range of programming for youth from birth through school-age. The person in this role will model and support positive caregiver / child interaction, and reach out to build relationships with families, schools, and youth-focused organizations in a diverse community. This work involves engaging the community to understand cultural values, trends and needs and how these influence library services to youth in the Apple Valley community.
All Dakota County Librarians provide information services, reading suggestions, and research services to assist library customers of all ages in finding information. The Librarian will assist the public in the use of digital resources and provide technology instruction. Librarians engage with people inside the library and out in the community to promote library services and print / digital resources through the development and delivery of programs, community outreach to target audiences, and public relations. The person in this role may be responsible for collection management and resource recommendation for assigned collection areas. The librarian works under the supervision of a Branch Manager.
Future vacancies for this position across all Dakota County Library locations may be filled from this list of eligible candidates for a period of up to six months.

The full salary range for this position is $62,963 - $98,380 and preferred hiring range is $62,963 - $78,704 annually. The amount that is offered is depended on the candidates' overall skills education, experience and internal equity. The offer would also include the County's benefits package.
