What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Officer position at Dakota County Sheriff's Office/Jail?
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Correctional Officer. Applicants must be 19 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid drivers license, able to pass a criminal background check, and able to work legally in the United States. Applicants for Correctional Officer must be able to work twelve hour shifts, days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Applicants that successfully pass a background check will be invited to a written and physical test.
Applications must be obtained from the Sheriff’s Office, filled out and submitted. Applications are available by:

-Picking one up at the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office located at 1601 Broadway St in Dakota City, NE in the Dakota County Jail Facility.
Starting wages for the position is as follows:
Corrections Officer: New Hire $20.09 per hour / $20.64 after 12 months of service.
