Dakota Premium Hardwoods is a leading supplier of Hardwood Lumber, Plywood, Moulding, Cabinet
Hardware/Supplies and Laminate. Our Waco office is seeking a dependable, hard‐working team player for its
staff accountant position. The ideal candidate will have a friendly disposition toward
customers and coworkers, solid work ethic, team first and can do attitude are essential.
Position Summary:
The staff accountant performs all general AP and AR activities. Prepares accounting and financial reports. Ensures
completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting records. Also ensures accounting systems are in control and
takes necessary steps to minimize risk to the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Respond to external vendors and internal managers regarding all aspects of the accounts payable/receivable
process
Processes accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions.
Research information to provide accurate and timely solutions to internal clients and vendors at multiple
locations
Verify the accuracy and reconciliation of vendor invoices and confirm that the correct general ledger account
codes are used
Records and posts payments received and makes payments for vendor invoices owed by the organization.
Generate payments to vendors on a routine schedule and match the check with backup for review
Inspect paid and unpaid invoices including cleared payment inquiries and check voiding to maintain accurate
files and records according to company standards
Review automatic payments to ensure correct coding and authorization as well as to ensure sufficient contracts
and documentation are present
Maintain filing system for financial information, records, and documents to ensure easily available information
Monitor account balances, track expenses, prepare analyses of accounts and related financial activity to produce
monthly financial reports
Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Three years of accounting experience and/or payable/receivable experience
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong problem‐solving skills and work ethic
Attention to detail is an essential
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Information management, general computer and basic Microsoft Office skills
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential.
Familiarity with commonly‐used accounting and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel) is required.
Adherence to the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct
Regular use of the telephone and e‐mail for communication is essential.
Must be able to understand and utilize common financial systems and reports.

High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
Accounting: 3 years (Preferred)
