Position Overview:
The Ag Banker will take over a portfolio of agricultural clients, ensuring continued support for farmers, agribusinesses, and rural enterprises. This role requires a deep understanding of local farming practices, agricultural financing needs, and strong relationship management skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients to assess their financing requirements, structure appropriate loan solutions, and provide financial guidance to support the success of the region’s agricultural community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow an existing agriculture-focused loan portfolio, fostering long-term relationships with local farmers and agribusinesses.
- Evaluate financial documents, cash flow statements, and business plans to assess creditworthiness and recommend appropriate loan structures.
- Originate and service agricultural loans, including real estate, equipment, operating, and agribusiness financing solutions.
- Conduct credit analysis and risk assessments to ensure sound lending decisions that align with the bank’s policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert advice on loan options, structuring, and financial planning tailored to the needs of the agricultural community.
- Stay informed on commodity markets, government farm programs, and agricultural industry trends to better advise clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including credit analysts and loan processors, to facilitate smooth and efficient loan approvals.
- Represent the bank at agricultural industry events, farm shows, and local community meetings to build relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in agricultural banking, farm lending, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of local farming operations, agribusiness finance, and rural economic trends.
- Preferred experience in loan origination, credit analysis, and risk assessment within the agricultural sector.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills to work closely with farm owners, agribusiness operators, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze financial statements and assess farm cash flow, production cycles, and collateral valuation.
- Familiarity with government-backed agricultural loan programs (e.g., FSA, USDA, SBA).
