Safety Director
The DMG Safety Director is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This will be accomplished by working with existing DMG safety policies & procedures while developing a positive safety culture among company personnel. Working closely with our operations and maintenance personnel on employee training and equipment maintenance to ensure a safe, productive work environment. The position will be hands on with about 25% of time spent in and around our facilities checking policies and procedures with the remaining 75% being spent in the office to ensure proper record documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Onsite point person for safety, regulations, incident response and orientation for outside contractors.
- Completing any necessary documents regarding incidents/accidents along with completing and following up on WSI/OSHA documents and claims processes.
- Line up all new hire drug testing and background checks, communicating results with appropriate DMG personnel. Also arrange for DOT physicals as needed.
- Ensure safety training is at 100% for each employee. Complete new hire training as needed.
- Follow and enforce all DMG safety policies while maintaining a positive safety culture.
- Consult with management and employees to identify problems, develop improvements, as well as create and maintain quality standards.
- Maintain all safety documentation and records to ensure compliance including but not limited to employee training, DOT requirements, and housekeeping records.
- Work with location managers regarding completion of monthly paperwork, ensure complicated safety procedures are done properly, and address/correct any personnel concerns or observations regarding safety.
- Consult with management and employees to identify problems and develop improvements to provide a positive safety culture.
- Ensure the company receives maximum WSI discounts and maintains good standing with the OSHA consultation program.
- Order and maintain inventory of all provided PPE.
- Source, maintain, and calibrate safety equipment.
- Line up any beneficial outside training (CPR, First Aid, fire extinguisher, etc.) for DMG employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working in a safety related position.
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment and how it relates to safety.
- Willing and able to spend time in and around plants to become familiar and comfortable with operations including observing employees and contractors to ensure safe behavior.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends when safety issues arise.
- Ability to climb stairs, periods of standing and sitting, work in confined spaces and from heights; bending, kneeling, ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and pass a drug/alcohol test. Prompt attendance is a must.

Pay: $75,021.00 - $80,441.00 per year
