Position Overview
The Chef Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, nutritious meals are prepared and served to all residents at Dakota Woodlands. This position is responsible for assisting in food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. The Chef Support Specialist will work closely with the Chef Supervisor and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate is a responsible, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual with experience in food service. They must be committed to maintaining high standards in food preparation, safety, and customer service while fostering a welcoming and inclusive kitchen environment.
Areas of Responsibility
Kitchen and Food Service Support
- Prepare meals according to the menu, following recipe and production requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels.
- Support the Chef Supervisor in food service needs and operational updates.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures to ensure compliance with state and local health regulations.
Safety, Sanitation, and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including those set by the MN Department of Health.
- Report any health and safety concerns to the Facilities & Hospitality Director.
- Assist in kitchen inspections and documentation of food service procedures.
Administrative and Operational Duties
- Track food donations and ensure appropriate use of resources.
- Adapt to emerging challenges and implement solutions to maintain kitchen efficiency.
- Serve as a team member and perform tasks both apparent and delegated.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must pass an organizational background study.
- Food service experience is required.
- ServSafe Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations and ability to accommodate various dietary needs.
- Ability to work individually and as a team member.
- Commitment to Dakota Woodlands' mission and values.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position with potential for occasional evening or weekend shifts.
- Active work environment, requiring standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of food supplies.
