Shipper

Summary/Objective

The Shipper is someone who can compare picked orders to pick tickets and bills of lading to confirm that shipments are correct and complete. The Shipper will be responsible for packaging and loading trucks according to warehouse procedures.

Essential Functions (the fundamental duties of a position: the things a person holding the job absolutely must be able to do).

• Load and unload trucks.
• Receive, verify, stage, and stock all incoming finished goods or returns.
• Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
• Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, orders, or other records.
• Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed items for shipment identification purposes.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Posts weights and shipping charges into Sage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments or customer returns and records damaged items, shortages, and corresponds with management to rectify issues.
• Verify shipments and post them according to required procedures.
• Investigate and resolve situations in which items shipped are not properly documented in Sage
• Cooperate with representatives from other departments in the organization to provide warehouse information and solutions as requested
• Perform regular warehouse audits to ensure that material is undamaged and maintained neatly throughout the warehouse
• Ensure warehouse is clean, organized, secure and safe at all times
• Safely utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move warehouse materials to and from storage locations.

Knowledge and expertise in:

• Must have a working knowledge of order processing systems and inventory management systems
• Must be knowledgeable in warehousing procedures
• Ability to give attention to detail is a must

Required Skills (skill set required to be able to perform the job)

• Previous experience with safe operation of forklift
• Ability to calculate mathematical values
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Ability to practice and demonstrate DALB Core Values

Required Education and Experience (education, training, or on the job experience required to perform job)

• High school diploma

This position does not have any direct reports.

Work Environment (office or plant)

This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment.
