Position: Data Scientist
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA 3 times a week on site
Type: 12 month contract
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering (Chemical or Biological). They should have strong data analysis and visualization skills, with familiarity in tools like Excel, Spotfire, JMP, Tableau, and MATLAB. Proficiency in Python (or R) for analytical purposes is preferred. While this role does not require lab work, candidates should understand lab processes and be comfortable analyzing experimental lab data. Experience with cell culture and protein purification is a plus but not required. Candidates with up to 3 years of experience, including entry level candidates, are preferred. Biotech or biopharma industry experience is ideal but not mandatory.
Description:
The Pre-Pivotal Drug Substance Technologies organization at Client develops, characterizes, and supports clinical drug substance manufacturing processes for all early-stage programs in the Client portfolio.
The successful candidate will be responsible for support of the development, characterization, scale-up and support of upstream and downstream processes to enable clinical advancement of Client programs.
This role is in an integrated bioprocess development group in which cell culture and purification scientists work together to advance Client s rich, exciting and dynamic pipeline. With Client s biology first approach, the position provides the unique opportunity to work on multiple modalities including antibodies, BiTEs, oncolytic viruses, bispecifics, and siRNAs.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in the analytics of chemical and biological datasets. Specifically, the candidate will support cross-platform analysis of bioprocessing data, build automated data pipelines and databases, and develop and deploy new analysis methods to mine and integrate internal data. The candidate will also support the design and execution of experiments at the bench scale, including both cell culture and purification operations. Additionally, the candidate will utilize out-of-the-box thinking to contribute to technology development, including process and data automation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Life Sciences, or other relevant sciences with a demonstrated record of excellence.
Prior experience with data analytical tools (Excel, Spotfire, JMP, Tableau, MATLAB, etc.) are essential.
Basic understanding of protein chromatography, filtration, or cell culture principles.
Experience with wet-lab biological or chemical experiments is a plus.
Familiarity with the design of experiments and statistical analysis of experimental data is desirable.
Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, SQL, VBA, etc) is desirable.
Motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Able to work onsite three days a week.
