Accounts Payable Specialist – Private Equity- Providence, RI

We are seeking candidates for an Accounts Payable Specialist position with a highly successful private equity firm located in Providence, RI. This position will report to the Accounts Payable Manager and will be responsible for reviewing invoices, vendor management, and reconcile various general ledger accounts. The ideal candidate will have 1 – 2 years of accounting experience.

This is a 6 month contract position that will pay $22-33/hr (depending on experience) within a 40-hour work week. This position is required to be onsite 5 days/week in their Providence office.

Responsibilities:

• Review invoices to ensure proper documentation and approval prior to payment.
• Communicate with vendors to provide guidance on billing logistics, timelines, and points of contact.
• Respond promptly to vendor inquiries to resolve issues effectively.
• Prepare invoices for payment and processed check requests in a timely manner.
• Audit and process expense reports submitted by administrative staff for accuracy.
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure payments were up-to-date.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as required.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 1-2 years of accounting experience, accounts payable experience is preferred
• General Ledger accounting experience is a plus
• Public Accounting experience is a plus
• Proficiency with Excel is required, advance Excel skill preferred
• Experience with Workday or Peoplesoft is preferred
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to maintain vendor management in a professional manner required
