Our client a Boston based investment manager has an immediate need for a Technical Project Manager to join their Network and Infrastructure team for a six month consulting engagement. This role requires 3 days a week onsite (Tuesday-Thursday weekly) with no exceptions considered.
Manager Notes: This is a mid-senior level role that will be supporting the Network team. The ideal candidate would be local to Boston and has a network background, strong attention to detail, and interpersonal and communication skills. This individual will also occasionally help less experienced team members, so they must also be comfortable handling some leadership responsibilities. The network experience listed below is required for the role. Financial services experience is preferred but not required.
BASIC PURPOSE:
Working directly with the Infrastructure team to execute and facilitate as well as aid in the directing of strategy, business analysis, resource allocation and project management for projects conducted. This position will be expected to oversee and manage the complete lifecycle of a project including oversight for all business, operations and technical efforts, and related budgets. The Project Manager will institute an open and transparent communication environment for all project efforts across project team members, stakeholders and sponsors.
This role will also be to support the Network team as a lead engineer, tasked with the effective and efficient implementation and maintenance of related technologies. This role assists in defining, designing, and implementing network communications and solutions, occasionally guiding less experienced staff members. The engineer coordinates tasks with other system areas and vendors, and contributes to network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Manager
- Further the business goals of the company through the direct management and execution of best-in-class projects/solutions.
- Build strong relationships with business divisions and departments across the company globally; represent, champion and further the goals and opportunities of the company’s teams in support of assigned initiatives.
- Display, or actively gather, a detailed understanding for the business needs and objectives of the company and related internal clients globally based on project.
- Provide project management, prioritization, direction, and leadership to team members in order to accomplish defined project deliverables.
- Plan, implement and control project work.
- Develop project scope, budgets, project plans and communication plans
- Manage and monitor all project deliverables to successful completion, leverage best practices and complete project artifacts as appropriate.
- Actively create and manage project work plans, issues, risks, and key decisions.
- Monitor project budget, resources and project team members, escalate issues as appropriate.
- Work with project's teams to allocate resources appropriately. Review demand and capacity and be able to work out conflicts or reprioritize as needed.

- Conduct lessons learned meetings/surveys and analyze data and report to sponsor and team

- Serve as a subject matter expert in the field of Project Management, maintaining a solid understanding of the field and its related technologies.

- Provides technical support to ensure the ongoing efficient and reliable operations of related company information systems. Troubleshoots complex network outages.
- Proactively develops and maintains strong knowledge of company’s information systems and their related components, and makes recommendations to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, or security of these systems as appropriate.
- Leverages technology to automate manual tasks and seeks to improve efficiency wherever practicable and appropriate. Makes recommendations for process improvements.
- Assist in developing, enforces and maintains company’s Information Security controls, procedures, and standards.
- Receives broad goals and overall objectives from Management and assists in establishing and implementing the methods to attain them.
- Responsible for meeting assigned project objectives including timelines and budget. Works on the projects and provides innovative suggestions for solutions.
- Serve as technical mentor to other members of the team.
- Collaborates with other IT and business groups, readily sharing information with others.
- Exposure to newer technology like network segmentation and SD-WAN will be critical.
- Strong technical skills and knowledge in several of the following disciplines.
- Network Firewall technology
- Network IDS/IPS Security technology
- TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP
- SASE networks and mobile end user support
- Cisco routing/switching, (NXOS, IOS) and protocols: (BGP, IPSEC, SMTP, SNMP and OSPF)
- VoIP operations, WAN operations experience, and Wireless networking experience
- QoS & MPLS technologies
- Cloud Implementation
- Proficiency with office suite.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Five or more (5 ) years of related project management experience.
- Practical experience leading projects through all phases of delivery
- Financial skills to manage project's operating and capital budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and management skills. Experience designing and delivering presentations and training to diverse audiences, including senior management, administrative staff members, technical and non-technical personnel, and clients.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the company’s management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
- Experience Managing Enterprise vendor migration initiatives.
- Network experience, with combined focus in some of the following: LAN/WAN and remote office operations. Comprehensive experience with Cisco routers/switches, network management platforms, network load balancing platforms, network patching and network cross-connect best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to interact, communicate, build relationships, and negotiate well with members of team and senior management when responding to technical challenges.
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively under pressure.
