Description
Responsible for operating a Dozer and other heavy equipment, working with other members of the construction crew to successfully complete projects within specifications and in a quality manner to meet or exceed customer expectations.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Operates various heavy equipment, such as dozers, scrapers, loaders, excavators, tractors, front end loaders, and backhoes, to excavate, and move and grade earth.
- Interacts with crew members who are facilitating alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment to complete conformation of grade specifications for the construction project.
- Shape and finish shoulders and slopes.
- Perform activities such as backfilling excavations, breaking concrete and asphalt, loading and unloading materials off trucks.
- Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
- Move materials over various distances around construction sites.
- Responsible for cleanliness and general housekeeping of the machine.
- Inspects equipment/machinery for safe day-to-day operation and for general maintenance needs.
- Lubricates, fuels, and maintains other fluids on machinery.
- Ability to understand the limitation of the machine.
- Working knowledge of operating a front end loader on a pipe crew or road/dirt construction crew.
Requirements
Job Specific Competencies:
- Minimum of 2 years’ of direct experience in operating different types front end loaders.
- Must be able to perform manual labor (assisting crew members on the ground) in all types of environments and conditions.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 or more pounds.
- Must be able to work outdoors and withstand different weather elements.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, crawl, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, and crouch.
