Job Summary

Coordinator, Global Student Engagement serves as a resource for international student populations to support their academic success. This position provides wraparound services and referrals to students and develops co-curricular experiences to create a campus culture where students feel supported, connected, valued, and prepared for their next. Coordinators work collaboratively to plan, implement, and assess global educational programs and support college wide internationalization efforts to promote a global campus climate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.
  • Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in integrated software systems; and proficiency in Microsoft application software.
  • Experience leading or managing major change initiatives.
  • Employ and deploy data-informed and results oriented initiatives.
  • Ability to identify and address opportunities and challenges arising from Dallas College’s current transition.
  • Understand contemporary issues in higher education and community colleges is required through professional development activities.
  • Experience providing wrap around and case management services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed to during business regarding students, supervisors, or other employees.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international student issues through programming, case management, and other professional activities.
  • Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparably diverse and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing quality, excellence, and student success.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline.
  • Shared governance and evidence of strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent groups. This also includes internal Dallas College partners and external non-affiliated partners.
  • Experience in strategic planning, and assessment of program(s) effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.
  • Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple identity student populations.
  • Ability to stay informed of the rapidly evolving social and political landscape impacting global student populations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practices for global student issues in relationship to identity and student development, retention, academic achievement, and emerging campus climate issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents within the Dallas College community network related to career and academic requirements.
  • Experience working effectively with students and staff from the full range of diverse populations.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Masters preferred. Official transcripts required.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing and facilitating programs in areas of global intercultural competency and student leadership development or case management of international students.
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and/or 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. work shifts and during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends.
  • Understanding compliance issues that impact international student populations.
  • Experience working effectively with students and staff from the full range of diverse populations.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, implement, and support programs designed to assist with a successful transition of international student populations to Dallas College, while providing case management wrap around services to increase the persistence, completion, and success of Dallas College’s global student populations.
  • Work collaboratively with college partners to implement high impact practices, service model and interventions to enhance the campus climate and college experience of members of global communities.
  • Deliver global activities and programs to help increase global competency and career readiness skills.
  • Responsible for assigned caseloads to support student post-graduation success.
  • Serve as advisor to student clubs and organizations and assists with co-curricular engagement, programs, and events.
  • Design and implementation of departmental initiatives including Summer Bridge Programs, Global Student Leadership Certificate, and International Student Engagement Plan.
  • Provide in-services training and facilitates meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, and supporting staff.
  • Serve as a resource to staff, faculty, students, and campus community on student engagement and activities.
  • Advise senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all programs, services, and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop, administer, and analyze continuous assessment of programs. Prepares and evaluates statistical, analytical, and narrative reports to be used for decision making, resource allocation and program improvement.
  • Support departmental and students from various intercultural programs.
  • Complete required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, monitoring the transportation of, and/or accompanying (driving) students to program activities, workshops, and engagement opportunities.
  • The position is required to be on campus, although the coordinator is housed at a specific campus location, individuals will be supporting programs and events across the seven Dallas College campuses when needed.
