Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, monitors and observes clients to ensure their safety and well-being. Provides motivational support and guidance to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervises and monitors therapeutic and recreational activities to ensure safety and well-being of clients; intervenes when necessary to control or channel inappropriate behaviors, makes rounds, tours grounds, takes census counts, etc. Reports missing residents, unusual behaviors, or physical symptoms to appropriate personnel and records improvement in accordance with program expectations
Guides and assists clients in complying with program rules and regulations. Supervises client work functions in accordance with program policies; initiates lights out or morning wake-up routines according to established schedules
Completes all required documentation to include shift report, client count reports, incident reports, medication administration records, activity reports and any other reports required by local, state, and federal requirements
Administer breath tests, or obtain urine samples
Performs body searches of clients and client property in accordance with policy
Schedules and coordinates transportation of clients to appointments necessary, in cooperation with treatment team members.
Drives vehicles in order to transport clients. Monitors clients behavior during transport, maintains order in vehicle and ensures safety of passengers. Reports incidents or inappropriate behaviors to appropriate treatment team members.
Maintains log of mileage and destination, passenger roster, and pick-ups and delivery times. Fuels and keep vehicles interior and exterior clean. Notifies supervisor of repairs or preventative maintenance required.
Reports client observations, incidents or unusual occurrences; contributes to decisions regarding treatment plans, discipline, conflict intervention or privileges. Assists team in maintaining consistent setting for treatment, and planning and coordinating client interaction events.
Perform office administrative duties, such as answering telephones, relaying messages, responding to inquiries regarding program services and policies, planning special events, assembling intake packets, etc.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program
Valid driver's license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Ability to work overtime and weekends
Basic knowledge of the physical, cognitive and psychological functioning level of the client population, including de-escalation techniques
Basic knowledge of conflict resolution and intervention techniques based on client maturation level
Basic understanding of mental health disorders requiring referrals
Communication skills to exchange information and interact with various internal and external audiences regarding client care
Analytical skills to conduct quality control checks on documentation
Active listening skills and social perceptiveness
Ability to read and interpret policies and instructions
Ability to understand side effects and impact of medications on clients
Adaptability/ flexibility to shift priorities
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients.
Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support.
Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis.
