The Public Information Specialist will be responsible for capturing, producing, and editing high-quality video content to support organizational goals and storytelling initiatives. This role includes planning shoots, operating video equipment, and delivering polished, engaging content across various platforms.
Brief Description
Assists the Department’s Public Information Officer to facilitate communication to the media, community, organizations, and county departments, and the public about the department’s programs and services.
Detailed Description
Assists the Public Information Officer in creating and developing a strategic communication and marketing plan that manages the dissemination of departmental communications. Manages and maintains various social media outlets for the department to include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube; develops strong and relative content. Designs and creates graphics, flyers, and other print and digital communications materials. Works closely and collaboratively with other department management and staff in developing communications and content for various events. Helps coordinate community affairs engagements to foster positive public relations and to reduce barriers between the department and the public. Helps to maintain communication within the Dallas County Administration and Elected Officials by preparing a periodic newsletter and other materials; maintains a file of news articles and video stories regarding the department. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, English, Communications, or in a job related field of study. Two (2) years of work-related experience. Special Requirements: Skill in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, the general public and media representatives. Skill in bilingual communication in English/Spanish preferred. Must pass a criminal background investigation.
