JOB DESCRIPTION
Assists potential clients in the determination of eligibility for services based on established standardized criteria. Processes applications for the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program, Assistance through Donated Funds by Energy Providers and other associated programs such as the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Determines eligibility for program participation using established criteria.
2. Computes income information to determine service level of eligible clients based on the type of program, established eligibility criteria and grant contractual requirements for each of those respective programs.
3. Reviews completed applications for accuracy and correctness prior to submitting the documents to business office for payment.
4. Assesses client needs for external programs and makes appropriate program referrals. Provides appropriate forms and educational material to applicants. Assists applicants to gather needed documentation.
5. Participates in outreach events to assist the CEAP Coordinators in providing energy assistance and energy education in community events.
5. Assists clients with the achievement of short and long-term needs in a supportive, cost-effective manner.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Training:
Graduation from an accredited high school/GED Program. Four (4) years of work related experience or sixty (60) hours from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study or combination of the two.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record.
JUVENILE: Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard office environment. Ability to travel to various work site locations.
Juvenile: This position may be located within a secured facility.
