JOB DESCRIPTION
Visits participants’ homes, workplaces, or other locations and observes living conditions, associates, and general environment. Identifies issues or challenges during visits to prevent the escalation of problems and potential violations of program conditions. Establishes a positive and professional relationship with participants. May conduct random drug tests in the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Makes in-person visits with the participants, their family, friends, employers, teachers, ministers, treatment providers, and community resources; supports, enhances, and promotes compliance with conditions of the AIM Youthful Offender Program.
2.Manages an assigned caseload referred by the court to monitor compliance. Ensures participants comply with court-ordered conditions. Maintains records by entering information into electronic case management systems.
3.Administers oral swab drug testing.
4.Participates in participant staffing’s by providing field work reports, making recommendations, and identifying supervision and ancillary service needs. Develops effective measures for drug testing and supervision compliance reporting that provide the team with sufficient and timely information to implement response to client behavior.
5.Coordinates the utilization of community-based services such as health and mental health services, victims’ services, housing, entitlements, transportation, education, vocational training, job skills training and placement to provide a strong foundation for recovery. Coordinates continuum of care through regular contact with treatment provider and provides reports prior to client staffing and enters information in case management systems.
6.Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Utilizes standard software applications to enhance efficiency and organization. Skill in verbal and written communication. Ability to foster productive relationships with employees, internal departments, and external partners, including health and mental health services, victim support services, housing, entitlement programs, transportation, education, vocational training, and job placement services. Skill in bilingual communication in English/Spanish a plus. Knowledge in addiction, alcoholism, and pharmacology. Ability to apply knowledge to respond to compliance in a therapeutically appropriate manner. Ability to focus on strengths-based approaches. Knowledge in gender, age and cultural issues that may impact the participant’s success. Ability to participate in regular cross-training with professionals trained in cultural competency. Ability to contribute to education of peers, colleagues and judiciary in the efficacy of Specialty courts. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record. Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
Individuals holding or considered for a position which has, or may have, access to criminal justice databases including the FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), NCIC/TCIC and similar databases, must pass a national fingerprint-based records check prior to placement in such position and may be denied placement in such positions and/or access to such systems. Individuals must also maintain the ability to pass the records check while in the position or until such time that the Commissioners Court and the County Civil Service Commission deem this position no longer has this requirement. Individuals will be required to maintain CJIS certification.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to conduct field visits and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and times outside normal business hours, to support mission objectives. Requires the ability to work under unpredictable circumstances and in potentially volatile settings. Fieldwork may occur in various weather conditions. Visits may be conducted in jail as part of official duties. Visits will be completed during business hours and require proper identification. The role involves working directly with offenders who have committed felony offenses and requires a high tolerance for emotionally demanding and stressful work environments.
All mileage associated with fieldwork shall be documented and submitted accordingly to policy and procedures.
