Level: Individual Contributor

Classification: Temporary, Nonexempt, Full-Time, 1-year nonrenewable

Benefits: Full Museum benefits

Schedule: M-F, 9-5, 35 hours per week

Salary Range: $21/hour

Scope of the Position:

The Research Assistant, Contemporary Jewelry is primarily responsible for research, writing, documentation, and administrative support for the 2025 Contemporary Jewelry exhibition and the last stages of the corresponding catalog. This project is in the final year; the focus of this position will be primarily on the exhibition and website components. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, assisting exhibition curator with the following duties and responsibilities.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Finalize and updating research on artists, works, and themes related to catalog and exhibition content.
  • Organize and maintain exhibition and catalog checklists and artist and object files.
  • Draft and upload entries on artists, objects, and related materials for the website component of the project.
  • Serve as curatorial project liaison with external constituents (lenders, donors, exhibition designers, etc.) and internal departments (Exhibitions Interpretation, Publications, Photography, Conservation, Development, Marketing, etc.)
  • Draft entries and labels for exhibition with curator.
  • Draft loan letters, correspondence, and exhibition didactics.
  • Assist with all aspects of exhibition catalog production.
  • Assist in developing and conducting training and tours for the exhibition.
  • Assist curator on all other aspects of this project as they evolve. 

Requirements

  

Education, Experience, and Certification:

  • MA in art, design, or craft history with a focus on contemporary jewelry preferred.
  • Equivalent level of education, knowledge, and experience in a related field considered.
  • Experience with databases or content management systems preferred.

  • Candidate must have excellent research and writing skills.
  • Display strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Possess the ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively on a team.
  • Be an effective communicator with ability to speak publicly.
  • Command of Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint.
