Scope of the Position:
We are looking for an experienced Web Optimization Specialist join our team to drive website traffic, engage audiences, and support the Museum’s goals. This position report to the Director of Art and Design and will managing SEO and webpage content and site structure by using a headless Drupal CMS, ensuring it aligns with user needs, accessibility standards, and SEO best practices while collaborating and working closely with developers, marketing, designers and institutional stakeholders to maintain a dynamic and engaging online presence.
The Web Optimization Specialist is responsible for website pages, markup, data, assets and elements by creating pages, granting permission to users, modifying new structures using components that have been built by the website’s developers, and analyzing data to optimize user experience. This position requires a keen eye for design, excellent communication and time management skills, and a solid understanding of web technologies, SEO and web analytics to increase user engagement and support business growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Website Strategy and Management
- Manage Drupal content, taxonomies, and navigation to create and publish pages in a user-friendly manner to drive engagement.
- Maintain website accessibility, features, and functionality according to established requirements.
- Manage user permissions, delegate grants, and support departmental editors and contributors.
- Oversee content workflows to ensure timely updates across the site.
- Work closely with developers to extend and improve the functionality of the site.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and Drupal updates.
- Collaborates and partners cross-functionally with other departments to identify and address their web-related needs.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Performance Optimization:
- Implement SEO best practices to optimize site content for search engines
- Maintain Google Search Console, identifying and resolving crawling issues
- Provide reports on indexing performance from various external crawlers
- Delivering periodical updates and reports with SEO updates, metrics, and data-driven recommendations to identify underperforming content to enhance engagement.
- Improve SEO metrics by adding meta data into pages, tagging content, and internal indexing.
Web-Analytics and Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Utilize web analytics tools to monitor website performance and metrics, track user behaviors and gather feedback.
- Analyze data and identify areas of improvement in website structure, functionality and user experience.
- Generate regular reports on website traffic, user engagement, and conversion rates.
- Maintain Google Analytics and Tag Manager environments
Collaboration
- Work with designers to develop user-friendly online experiences consistent with our brand.
- Collaborate with all departments to develop content strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Partner with developers to create specifications to extend functionality and elevate the user experience.
Requirements
Education, Experience, and Certification:
- 5 years of site administration using Drupal 8.x
- 5 years content management and strategy in a content-rich (>5k pages) environment.
- Firm understanding of SEO best practices, optimizing sites and content for search engines, and tools for evaluating index performance.
- Strong background in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Exposure to Drupal headless, Drupal 7.x, React, Next.js a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills required. Ability to decipher metrics and complex data into effective and decipherable reporting.
