ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
1. Manages guest reservations per established department policies.
2. Greets and seats residents and their guests during peak times to ensure an even work load for service staff and ensure good service.
3. Is responsible for promoting dining room public relations, handling resident dining concerns, and must be able to communicate effectively with seniors and provide follow up as needed.
4. Schedules service staff, assigns their work sections and side work. Check that all side work is being done prior to leaving for the day.
5. Ensures POS equipment is maintained in good working order.
6. Must be 21 years old to meet the requirements of alcohol service. Ensures the serving of alcohol is conducted per OLCC regulations and DRV policies.
7. Performs any of the essential dining services necessary to support the service staff during meal times.
8. Ensures dining room tables are cleared, cleaned and set per standards for service and sanitation.
9. Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures as needed.
10. Follows safety regulations at all times and follows established infection control and food handling procedures.
11. Orient and train the dining room staff and participate in periodic in-service meetings as scheduled.
12. Leads daily stand up pre shift meetings to discuss reservations, operation for the day and daily offerings.
13. Make sure all condiments for daily special in house and to go are pre done prior to meal time.
14. Maintains and ensures orderly and clean storage areas.
15. Ensures adequate floor stock is maintained and proper labeling/dating procedures are followed in storage areas. Properly labels and stores food items.
16. Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code.
17. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
18. Participates in other campus foodservice activities.
19. Identifies and makes suggestions for improvements in quality service and menus as well as atmosphere, décor, maintenance and other areas as applies to the dining experience.
20. Must be able to prioritize and execute or delegate job duties in a timely manner.
21. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dining Room Manager, Director of Dining Services, or Executive Director.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic, uses a cash register and make change.
2. Must have a minimum of one year customer service experience. Prior leadership and/or foodservice experience preferred.
3. Must possess a valid Food Handlers card and be able to obtain an OLCC alcohol service permit within 45 days.
4. Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
5. Must be able to perform duties in a timely manner consistent with the needs of the residents, dining room standards, and assigned schedules.
6. Must be able to understand and effectively support and apply DRV policies and procedures as they apply to circumstances that arise.
