Under the direct supervision of the Building Principal, assist in providing a safe, clean environment conducive to learning. Provide leadership in the development and improvement of the district in various areas such as curriculum and instruction, student services, communications, and management. The Assistant Principal is responsible for the overall operation and management of the school building to include the instructional program, facilities, and staff supervision.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and establishment of district goals and objectives and the planning of the district instructional program.
- Assist with the administrative and instructional functions to meet the educational needs of students, while carrying out the mission and goals of the district
- Advise and assist the Principal on the administration, supervision/evaluation of building matters, student discipline/behavior, attendance, and other staff/student related matters.
- Maintain compliance with school law and district policy.
- Initiate and conduct teacher, student, and parent conferences regarding attendance and discipline.
- Assist in implementing programs for staff development.
- Assist in the evaluation of faculty and staff, school programs, and building activities.
- Promote and maintain open communication, positive attitudes, respect, and self worth between students, faculty and staff, parents, and community.
- Assist in the completion of required records and reports in a timely manner.
- Assist the Principal with budget preparation, as needed.
- Assist in supervising extra-curricular and co-curricular activities and events.
- Serve as LEA for IEP and 504 plans, as needed.
- Administer the planning of PSSA tests, Keystone Exams or local assessments, as needed.
- Assume the responsibilities of the Principal in his/her absence.
- Participate on Curriculum Council and other district committees.
- Coordinate and supervise the Student Assistance Team, School Safety and Crisis Management Team, as needed.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain appropriate records with regard to all areas of responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
- Master's Degrees from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration
- PA Administrative Certificate:
- School Admin. - Principal PK-12 (1115)
- Elementary Principal (1100)
- PA Teaching Certificate in one or more subject areas (Pre-K-4)
- Five (5) years’ experience in public education necessary, including elementary school instruction
- Assistant principal or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license to provide own transportation
- Acceptable record of attendance
