What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Specialist (K-3) position at Dallastown Area School District?
- Interprets and supports the district philosophy of reading into an instructional program, consistent with the needs of the student population, the teachers and the community.
- Works with teachers to interpret data to ensure continuous growth and achievement that support developmental and remedial aspects of the reading program.
- Assist in selection of appropriate materials/classroom organization to meet curricular and instructional goals to facilitate the learning process.
- Assists teachers in diagnosis of students and collaborates in planning instructional strategies.
- Provides remedial instructional needs of students through collaboration with classroom teachers,Academic Intervention Specialist and families.
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of new methods, materials and resources to support the reading program.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Supervisor of Federal Programs and Services.
- Master's Degree
- PA Instructional I or II Certification: Reading Specialist PK-12 (7650)
- Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience preferred
- Experience in presenting educational professional development with demonstrated knowledge and practices of reading
- Demonstrated ability to work in a positive and effective manner with students
- Completion of all mandated pre-employment documents and informaion

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the principal and supervisor of federal programs and services, you'll work directly with teachers, administrators, families and students to provide leadership, coordination, collaboration and creativity in providing a balanced and effective reading program for all students.
