- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the abilities of students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established District curriculum goals and objectives.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, while modifying instructional methods to fit individual students’ needs.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including current technology and whole group/small group learning.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with administration, staff members and parents in providing feedback regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate:
- Middle Level 6-9 / Subject Area(s) 7-12 / Grades 4-8 with subject area(s) 7-8
- and/or Special Education PK-12 (9225) or Special Education 7-12 (9227)
- Experience with Special Education programs preferred
- Related teaching experience preferred
- Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting
- Completion of all mandated pre-employment documents
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong Communication skills, both written and orally
- Prior experience with providing intensive academic interventions preferred

JOB SUMMARY
The Academic Intervention Specialist (formerly known as an Instructional Support Teacher) is responsible for supporting teachers and students in need of targeted, strategic, and intensive interventions. This specialist collaborates with classroom teachers and support staff to develop intervention plans/goals for students, provides remedial instruction, monitors students’ performance, and communicates with all stakeholders.
