Purpose:
Certified Elementary Education teacher provides instruction to children at Brookwood school according to district and state curriculum guidelines so that the students are prepared socially, physically, and intellectually for ongoing academic achievement.
Job Duties:
- Understand core purpose of dual immersion and research behind the program’s effectiveness
- Be familiar with and willing to acquire new knowledge of dual immersion models and curriculum
- Establish clear German language objectives, in addition to core content objectives, for all lessons and projects assigned
- Ability to design and develop instructional materials in English and German that not only support the GA Standards of Excellence, but also the integration of place-based STEM research
- Ability to incorporate nature and the outdoors into studies to capitalize on the resources that our place offers
- Utilize a variety of methods and materials with a constructivist approach for teaching integrated math/science/German literacy studies
- Ability to provide students with a German cultural immersion experience in addition to language immersion
- Ability to professionally communicate to stakeholders and potential families the benefits of German dual immersion
- Ability to gather ongoing data to allow for the evaluation of the dual immersion program
- Ability to collaborate with grade-level homeroom teachers on lesson design
- Communicate learning objectives in German language and core content with parents
- Work collaboratively with homeroom teachers to evaluate students’ progress
- Create a method for student progress reporting to parents in a format they understand
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers to design and execute a classroom behavior plan to meet students’ needs and facilitate instruction
- Complete duties and other assignments as directed by school administration
Qualifications:
To be qualified for this position an applicant must possess or be eligible for professional teacher licensure Early Childhood Education and German (P-12). Preference will be given to native German speakers. Official transcripts, professional certification, and all test scores required to validate education and licensure. Experience working with children through teacher preparation and organized youth activities is preferred. Please apply only if you are fluent in German.
