Dam Good™ English Muffins, is a women-owned, family-operated, mission-driven brand located in Peekskill, NY that makes four varieties of square shaped sourdough English muffins!

1. We got our start nearby the New Croton Dam located in Cortlandt, NY,

Position Summary:
This role combines two key positions in our bakery—Griddler and Bread Baker—offering you the chance to learn multiple aspects of our artisan sourdough English muffin-making process.
As a Griddler, you’ll be at the heart of cooking our signature Dam Good™ English Muffins on a flat-top griddle, ensuring each batch meets our high-quality standards and production timelines.
As a Bread Baker, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of dough preparation and production of our naturally fermented sourdough English muffins. You will be expected to follow timelines, quality standards and comply with all safety and sanitation regulations during your shift.
On the job training is provided.
Requirements:
- Experience: 1-2 years of proven experience working in a food service environment is highly preferred but we are willing to train a motivated candidate.
- Preferred: ServSafe certification and/or experience with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) plans.
- Punctuality: Reliable and prepared for all scheduled shifts.
- Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to our facility in Peekskill, NY.
- Environment: Must work comfortably in a non-smoking environment, both inside and out.
Job Functions :
- Dough Production: Scaling & mixing of wet/dry ingredients, mixing ingredients & dough dividing. Understanding the cooking differences between various dough types.
- Griddle Station: Knowledge & understanding of managing gas griddles, cook times and maintaining proper temperatures for different English muffin varieties.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow daily timelines, maintain consistent standards, and ensure high-quality production.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with team members and managers. Respectful & kind to others.
- Personality: A strong work ethic and self-starter attitude, work well alone & with other team members.
- Adaptability: Comfortable with change and able to adapt easily as needed. We're growing and looking for a collaborative team player.
- Food Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations, including working under SQF (Safe Quality Foods) standards and maintaining necessary records.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand on your feet for up to 8 hour shifts
- Performing repetitive tasks efficiently and consistently
- Handling hot surfaces and gas equipment safely
- Cleaning and organizing the workstations, including following end-of-day cleaning protocols
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Constant use of both hands
Hours:
- 7 hour shifts Monday - Friday 7:30am (sharp) - 2:30pm. Flexibility to work a Sunday shift is a plus.
- We work all holidays except Thanksgiving & Christmas.
- To ensure that both parties are aligned and a good match, we require a 2-day paid ($16/hour) working trial before proceeding with any hiring or further training processes.
Dress code:
- Casual, comfortable clothing and shoes, baker coat & hair coverings are provided.
Compensation:
Starting at $16 while in training, with an increase as bench marks are completed and can perform the job without assistance.
