Job Summary:
We are looking for a personable and outgoing individual to join our team as a Garden Center Associate. The primary responsibilities are to maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales, maintain and merchandise garden products, support the garden center management team when on the sales floor, process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently, and maintain cash register operations when cashiering. Garden Center Associates also contribute to overall store operations as needed, stocking shelves and providing customer service where needed. This is a physically demanding position requiring ability to stand/walk throughout shift, lift bagged goods up to 50lbs repeatedly, and tolerate a wide range of weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service in the Garden Center and in the store.
- Answer phone calls.
- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Stock the garden room and garden-related store aisles.
- Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers.
- Maintain the orderly appearance of the register area and supplies stocked.
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management.
- Execute the daily operational, and day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by the garden center management.
- Unload plant deliveries and restock plants
- Water and maintain plant material
- Maintain a clean, organized garden center
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or changes due to customers.
Qualifications:
- Posses a willingness to learn product knowledge of plant and garden-related products.
- Experience in a retail or garden center environment is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a small team.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word, and Excel a plus.
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
- Able to walk, reach, climb ladders, and bend to perform job duties
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business.
Salary : $17 - $19
