POSITION SUMMARY
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Functions as an integral member of the patient care team under the direction, leadership and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for patient comfort, safety and personal care. Must be able to perform jobs in all patient care and operational areas subject to reasonable accommodations, also be able to employ all mandatory safety devices and procedures. Must participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, which may include the wearing of a respirator. This is a union position.
Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a key member of the patient care team, responsible for providing essential daily living support and basic patient care. Working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the CNA ensures patient comfort, safety, and overall well-being in various healthcare settings
Essential Functions
- Direct Patient Care:
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
- Measure and record vital signs; promptly report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Support & Safety:
- Aid in transferring and positioning patients to prevent falls and injuries.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment by following infection control protocols.
- Patient Interaction:
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.
- Additional Duties:
- Assist with routine tasks as assigned by nursing supervisors or other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program and current CNA certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous experience in healthcare or long-term care preferred.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Salary Range: $24.03-$30.30/hourly
All Nurse Assistants hired on or after January 1, 1994 must have current CNA certification
