Position Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer Supervisor at Dameron Hospital is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the hospital’s maintenance and repair functions. Under general supervision, this role will supervise and assist maintenance staff in the performance of tasks related to the operation, repair, and upkeep of machinery, mechanical equipment, interior and exterior surfaces, and hospital facilities. The Supervisor will also provide technical support, perform hands-on maintenance tasks, and ensure adherence to safety standards. This role involves managing maintenance work across patient care and operational areas and ensuring compliance with hospital protocols. The Supervisor is expected to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and may participate in the Respiratory Protection Program. This is a union position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise the maintenance team, providing guidance and assistance in completing tasks.
- Delegate tasks and ensure the efficient completion of work orders related to equipment, machinery, and facility repairs.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff to ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices.
- Ensure team compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations, and quality assurance standards.
- Assist in the scheduling and coordination of maintenance projects and repairs.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of mechanical systems, machinery, and hospital equipment.
- Perform hands-on maintenance tasks as necessary, including repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and medical equipment.
- Maintain and repair interior and exterior surfaces and textures of the hospital, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Perform general locksmith duties, including rekeying locks, repairing lock systems, and maintaining key inventories.
- Provide relief and support for Communication Technicians as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work areas are maintained in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Participate in the Respiratory Protection Program, including the use of a respirator when required.
- Wear and enforce the use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the job.
- Perform regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and make recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of maintenance requests and operational needs.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance needs and critical situations, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
- Assist in the development of long-term maintenance plans and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of work performed, including preventive maintenance logs and repair histories.
- General Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting co-workers with completing their tasks and supporting facility operations as needed.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment for all team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of documented work experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment within commercial, industrial, or healthcare facilities preferred.
- Supervisory experience or experience leading a team is preferred.
- Licenses/Certificates:
- None required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of facility maintenance and mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machinery, mechanical systems, and building systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to enforce safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Ability to work in patient care and operational areas, following all hospital safety and hygiene protocols.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including areas with fluctuating temperatures or hazardous materials, with the proper PPE.
