POSITION TITLE : Surgery Technician
DEPARTMENT : Surgery
POSITION SUMMARY
Assists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field. Performs a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies. Coordinates resources to improve utilization and decrease turnaround times and delays. Performs level I, II, and III cases.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Education / GED or equivalent : Preferred
- Associates / Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education / related experience : Preferred

Licenses / Certificates
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Prepares for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment prior to the case.
Collects data on assigned surgical cases based on unit Performance Standards of Care.
Participates in training staff and students on new equipment, instrumentation, and procedures.
Completes instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards.
Sets up and maintains a neat, orderly sterile field, demonstrating careful attention to aseptic technique.
Labels solutions according to established standards.
