Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) will provide direct support and assistance to individuals in housing programs who are experiencing mental health and behavioral challenges. The BHT works closely with clients to promote their physical and mental well-being, assist with daily living tasks, and ensure they are achieving their goals within the housing program. This role involves facilitating therapeutic interventions, assisting with case management, and providing a safe and supportive environment for clients.
Duties And Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree in a social service-related field preferred. Certification or training in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or mental health first aid preferred. Previous experience in behavioral health, housing, or social services setting is strongly preferred. Understanding Housing First, harm reduction, and trauma informed care required.
Possess superior organizational and administrative skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to work independently and achieve high standards of productivity, achieving deadlines and with superior product results. Strong calendaring, organizational, and document management skills required. Proactive approach to solving problems and communicating to leadership. Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and office equipment required. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.

- Provide individual and group support to clients, including active listening, encouragement, and guidance.
- Assist clients in developing coping skills, managing stress, and addressing personal and behavioral challenges.
- Monitor clients’ emotional and mental well-being, reporting any significant changes to the program supervisor or mental health professionals.
- Help participants with activities of daily life (ADLs).
- Promote independence by assisting clients in acquiring the necessary skills to manage their living environment.
- Manage behavioral challenges and de-escalate potential crisis situations with professionalism and care.
- Document any incidents, behaviors, or changes is client status, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Work collaboratively with care teams ensuring clients receive holistic care.
- Assist Clients in accessing benefits, attending appointments, and connection to resources.
- Act as a liaison between clients and community resources, including mental health services, medical care, and social services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up to date client records including case notes, service plans, and progress reports.
- Attend staff, department, team, and other requested meetings.
- Perform special assignments and work on an as needed basis.
