Part Time Medical Director of Primary Care - CONTRACTED
Damien Center empowers communities and persons affected by HIV / AIDS in the state of Indiana by being a leading resource, provider, and advocate for comprehensive HIV / AIDS care, prevention, education, and related services. Damien Center and Damien Pharmacy provide client-centered social services focused on care coordination, clinical and pharmacy services, mental health, housing, and nutrition to the Indianapolis community.
Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Chief Clinic Officer (CCO), the Medical Director of Primary Care will be responsible for partnering with other Damien Center clinicians to achieve the vision of delivering excellent primary care. The Medical Director of Primary Care is responsible for assisting the CCO in carrying out Damien Center's clinical vision for the delivery of primary care.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists in providing primary care clinical oversight to providers and support staff.
- As needed, provides clinical collaboration to advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) in the clinic, as well as completing all collaborative reviews and compliance items in a timely manner.
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with their scope of practice and training and established practice guidelines as needed.
- In collaboration with CCO, provides oversight to assist in meeting payor standards and timeliness of documentation and billing.
- Assists as needed in provider performance evaluation processes.
- Assists as needed in recruitment and retention of providers.
- Facilitates orientation and training for new primary care providers as needed.
- Assists as needed with clinically related patient complaints and grievances.
- Provides consultation and leadership in the transition to a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model and implementation of expanded clinical services.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of primary care, especially as relates to treatment and prevention of HIV disease, care focused on LGBTQ patients' unique medical needs and optimizing health equity for underserved patients.
- Performs special assignments and other work, on an as-needed basis.
Education and / or Experience :
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Possess ability to efficiently complete clinical and nonclinical tasks with a high level of quality and detail while adhering to highest ethical professional standards. Excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and general computer / EHR use. Proactive approach to solving problems and communicating to CCO. Knowledge of office management systems, procedures, and office equipment required. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
