What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities & Maintenance Crew Lead position at Dan and Jerry's Greenhouse?
What you’ll do…
- Provide leadership, direction, and coordination of all growing range and facility maintenance activities.
- Maintain and conduct repairs on all systems including inflation, electrical, plumbing, generators, boilers, and production equipment.
- As required, oversee, and assist in repairing and installing new systems and greenhouses.
- Assist in ground maintenance including mowing, edging, weeding, trimming, clean up and debris removal.
- Assist in on site snow removal as necessary.
- Organize and maintain cleanliness in greenhouses, dock area, driveways, and outside field growing areas.
- Conduct repairs on golf carts, trailers, shag trucks, pick-up trucks, EZ Go’s, skid steers, forklifts.
- Safely use tools and equipment in accordance with company safety standards.
- Assist with and/or perform additional duties as required by operating needs of the company as directed by management.
- Always lead and promote a culture of safety and well-being.
- Ensure that continuous improvement processes are established and in practice.
- Lead, develop, and motivate your team to promote a culture of high performance.
- Always maintains a strict level of confidentiality concerning Dan and Jerry’s Greenhouses strategic, operational, and financial positions.
Who you are…
- A Maintenance Leader with a minimum of 2 years of experience in facilities maintenance and upkeep.
- Someone fanatical about details and doing the job right.
- Ability to make timely, impactful decisions that result in positive change and contribution.
- Ability to effectively engage with, develop and the maintenance crew.
- Demonstrated ownership for decisions and actions; facilitates accountability.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
What you’ve done…
- Hand-on knowledge of equipment electronics, controls, PLC’s, etc.
- Although not required, experience in manufacturing, agriculture, horticulture, and/or farming environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic welding fundamentals.

Typically, those in this or comparable roles will spend most of their time working side-by-side employees in a production and greenhouse environment with few physical hazards. Business is seasonal, and environments can at times be dusty, warm, and humid.
Minimal travel may be required for this position to visit other Dan and Jerry growing ranges and periodically attend industry trade events. Valid driver’s license required.
